Oriental Art in Central Asia

Excluding prehistoric art, as far as oriental art and painting are concerned, Mesopotamian art represents the oldest form of art in Asia. Sadly, a little number of paintings has survived. The survived paintings suggest that, with a few exceptions, the paint was used primarily for geometric and plant-based decorative schemes, although most of the sculptures were also painted. Painter Mia Abelson indicates that cylinder seals have survived in great numbers, many of them with complex and detailed scenes despite their small size.
